The Cardinal
This character is inspired by Cardinal Thomas Wolsey who was the second most powerful man in England besides the King. Henry was heavily reliant on Wolsey. Wosley was a devout believer but kept his mouth shut to serve his own interest.
Wolsey was born in the working class and worked his way up through the ranks to get close to Henry and serve in his court. Wolsey was rewarded both by the Crown and the Church. He served as Henry's Lord Chancellor and was given almost complete control of England's foreign policy. When Henry sought his divorce, he tasked Wolsey with obtaining permission from the Pope for an annulment. When he failed, he was thrown out of office and accused of treason. He died while awaiting trial.
