The Judge
The character of The Judge is an amalgamation of Thomas Cromwell and political advisors to King Henry VIII. Thomas Cromwell was a political savant, manipulating the throne from his position beside it. He was a man who would abandon his morals in the pursuit of power.
Cromwell was a man of low birth who rose through the ranks of English society to become one of the most powerful men in England. He impressed Henry VIII by helping him justify his separation from Katherine in what was known as the "Great Matter." Though Cromwell worked as an enemy of Katherine, he seemed to admire her, admitted she was an incredibly intelligent woman and leader. He said "if not for her sex, she would have defied all the heroes of History.”
