(1) Unemployment
In the 1970s the unemployment rate was over 10%, and paired with the fiscal crisis, there was very little money for the government to dole out to the unemployed.

(2) The Bronx
​
The Bronx was not a nice place to live in the 1970s. ​It was dirty, poor, and riddled with crime. Landlords who were losing money would often burn their building down and collect on insurance.
​
(3) Jacks
​
A game played with a rubber ball, 10 jacks, and 2 people​. The object of the game is to pick up the most jacks at once successfully. In the first round players attempt to bounce the ball and pick up one jack before the ball hits the floor. The second round - two jacks, and so on. ​​

(4) The Red Shoes
​
A 1948 movie ​musical about a young ballerina who "dances dangerously between two loves". She is torn between her love of a young man and her love of ballet. Before the end she will be forced to make a decision.

(5) Ed Sullivan
​
A journalist and producer best known for hosting his TV show, The Ed Sullivan Show, the longest running variety program in TV history. It was through his show that Ed Sullivan did his part to diversity the music world by showcasing a wide variety of artists.

(6) Ann Miller
​
A famous actress and dancer in Hollywood in the 1940s and 50s. She is best known for her work in On the Town (1949) and Kiss Me Kate (1953).

(7) Doris Day
​
A famous actress, singer, and animal welfare activist. She is perhaps best known for her 1959 movie, Pillow Talk.
​
(8) Maria Tallchief
​
A 5'9" American ballerina who is most well known for breaking barriers for Native American women in the dance world. Tallchief found fame when she joined the New York City ballet in 1948.
​
(9) AGVA
​
The American Guild of Variety Arts is a labor union founded in 1939 to protect the performing artists and stage managers for live performances in realm of variety shows. This wide variety of performers includes theme park performers, skaters, circus performers, comedians, cabaret & club artists, poets, and more.

(10) Steve McQueen
​
Also known as the "King of Cool", this 1960s film star seduced audiences with his icy cool performances in action movies.

(11) Bob Goulet
​
An American singer and actor best known for his role as Lancelot in Broadway's Camelot in 1960, and his Tony award winning performance as Jacques Bonnard in "Happy Time" in 1968.

(12) Peyton Place
​
A novel (1956), film (1957), and television series (1964-69) about a steamy romance in a quiet New England town called Peyton Place involving a newcomer named Michael and a prudish shop owner, Constance. While Constance keeps secrets from her daughter, Michael uncovers a darker side of Payton Place- rape, suicide, and murder.

(13) Troy Donahue

A film and television actor and singer that became a popular male sex symbol in the 1950s and 60s. In 1974 he appeared in a small role in the Godfather: Part II.

(14) Ted Mack Amateur Hour
​
A variety television show, originally a radio show called "The Original Amateur Hour", in which talent was selected by spinning a wheel and intoning "round and round she goes, and where she stops nobody knows." When Ted Mack took over the show in 1948, he brought it to television.

(15) Gabardine pants

Gabardine is a tough, tightly woven fabric made mostly of wool, and requires dry cleaning only.

Withdrawn from the US market in 1010, Darvon is a narcotic pain reliever.

(20) Valium
​
An anti-anxiety drug, also commonly used to treat recovering alcoholics.

​
An comedic actress an dancer who won four Tony awards for her performances in Red Head, New Girl In Town, Damn Yankees, and Can-Can.

(22) Jill St. John
​
An stunning American actress best known for her role as Bond girl Tiffany Case in Diamonds are Forever, and for her many topless photoshoots.

(23) Standard Minimum Contract
​

(24) Six-month rider
​
A six-month rider is essentially an addition to a contract which states that the performer will stay with the project for six months.
