The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
Rating: ★★★★
I have heard a lot of buzz about this book. People have been saying it's even better than Everything Everything, and, as you may know, I LOVED Everything Everything, so I had extremely high hopes for this book. It didn't live up to those hopes. The Sun Is Also a Star addressed some really important issues, and, in that sense, I liked it better than Everything Everything, but it did not have any of those shocking turns that I loved so much in Everything Everything.
This book was very predictable. I was not at all surprised by any turn of events.
One thing I did really love about this book were the chapters from random strangers perspective. I thought this was a really interesting idea because we got back stories on these random side characters that completely changed out view of them. I think a major theme in the book was tolerance and these perspective paragraphs played into that theme in a major way that didn't distract from the story at all.
This book is definitely worth reading, but don't go in expecting another Everything Everything. You'll just be disappointed.
